Asexual + Aromantic Identities (GSRC Brown Bag Lunch Series)
Join the GSRC for a monthly deeper dive into specific identities and histories within the broader LGBTQIA+ community! These virtual sessions are open to all students, staff, and faculty.
This session will focus on exploring and understanding Asexual + Aromantic identities. Learn more about the asexual/ace spectrum, the evolution of language around ace and aro experiences, and the unique challenges that members of this community face.
LGBTQ+ and Human Rights History Panel
What can the history of LGBTQIA+ rights tell us about the meaning and limits of universal human rights?
In recognition of LGBTQIA+ History Month, the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center will host an interdisciplinary conversation exploring the historical relationship between LGBTQIA+ movements and the broader human-rights project. Faculty panelists will consider how ideas of equality, dignity, universality, and non-discrimination have been applied to LGBTQIA+ communities, as well as the historical gap between the promise of universal rights and the exclusion of LGBTQIA+ people from legal and social protections.
The conversation will trace the evolution from criminalization and marginalization toward expanding legal recognition and human-rights protections, while placing LGBTQIA+ history within a broader global context. Panelists will also consider the roles of courts, states, international institutions, and social movements in shaping LGBTQIA+ rights and discuss contemporary challenges and unresolved questions.
The event will conclude with an audience Q&A and an informal reception with Insomnia cookies and refreshments, giving students, faculty, and community members a chance to continue the conversation.

This interactive training first introduces participants to the building blocks of inclusion, including basic terminology and information on the experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals on campus. We will then work through scenarios and create concrete strategies to foster a supportive campus community that affirms trans and queer students, faculty, and staff.

The GSRC Takes Broadway: Step-by-Step & Rocky Horror Show
Join the GSRC on Saturday, October 3rd @ 9:15 AM for a trip to broadway as we watch The Rocky Horror Show and engage in an exploratory dance class led by a cast member from the show! Seats are limited to 25 and priority will go to undergraduate & graduate students but the RSVP open to all students, staff, and faculty. RSVP today!
About the Step-by-Step Class: “Participants have the opportunity to experience many different Broadway dance styles. This session can be taught by a performer from the show that the group is seeing and also feature choreography from that show. Other options for this workshop include a professional dance audition or a specific type of dance (tap, modern, hip hop, etc. Includes time for questions, pictures and autographs.”

Badass Women's History Tour & Small Business Panel
Sunday, September 27th: Badass Women's Tour & Small Business Panel (Philadelphia, PA)

Period Party
The Gender + Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC) will be hosting its second Period Party, an educational and community-centered event designed to normalize conversations about menstruation, provide access to menstrual products, and foster a supportive environment for students. The program will include interactive activities, resource-sharing, and opportunities for attendees to learn about different menstrual products, cycle management strategies, and body literacy.
The Period Party is open to all students, with particular emphasis on fostering inclusivity for students who may have limited access to menstrual products or resources. Through this event, the GSRC seeks to combine education, empowerment, and community care, promoting wellness and body positivity across campus.

The Gay Harlem Renaissance Exhibit

Exhibition Description:
”The Gay Harlem Renaissance examines the Black LGBTQ+ artists, writers, and performers central to the Harlem Renaissance and everyday Black gay life in the early 20th century. Marking the centennial of The New Negro—the landmark 1925 anthology edited by Alain Locke—the exhibition traces the queer creativity, friendship circles, and mentorships that flourished in Harlem’s salons, social clubs, and thriving nightlife and that helped power the Harlem Renaissance.”
